What people use a white screen for

  • Video call light. Turn your second monitor or a tablet into a soft light for Zoom or Teams. Pick the warm peach colour for a kinder skin tone.
  • Cleaning the screen. Dust, smudges and fingerprints are easiest to see on white.
  • Checking the panel. White shows uneven brightness, yellow or pink tints and dead pixels (which show as black dots).
  • Light for tracing drawings or reading film negatives, or a quick light in the dark.

How to use it

Click the preview or the Full screen button. The page asks the browser for full screen and keeps your display awake while it is open, so it does not dim after a minute. Turn your system brightness to maximum for the brightest result. The brightness slider here can only dim the screen, never make it brighter than your display allows.

Want another colour? Pick one of the swatches or use the colour picker. The black screen is handy for checking backlight bleed, and the dead pixel test cycles through all the colours a pixel check needs.

Is a white screen bad for your eyes?

A bright white screen is fine for short tasks like cleaning or a quick light. For long use as a light, lower the brightness or choose the warm colour, and do not stare straight into it in a dark room.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions people ask most about this test.

How do I make my screen completely white?

Click Full screen on this page. Your whole display turns white. Press Esc or double-click to go back.

Can I use a white screen as a light for video calls?

Yes. Put a second monitor, laptop or tablet in front of you, open the white screen and turn the brightness up. The warm peach swatch gives a softer light.

Why does my white screen look yellow or blue?

Night Light on Windows or Night Shift on Mac tints the screen warm. Turn it off for a neutral white. A blue or pink cast can also come from the monitor colour settings.

Will the screen turn off while the white screen is open?

In browsers that support it, the page keeps the screen awake while it is in full screen. You can also set it to close by itself after a few minutes.
